House of Representatives Adjourns Session Amid Investigation of Nisour Square Incident


Baghdad: The House of Representatives has adjourned its session, which took place today, Monday, and will reconvene tomorrow, Tuesday. This decision was announced amidst growing concerns over an incident involving members of parliament.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Deputy Speaker Shakhwan Abdullah instructed the Security and Defense Committee to conduct an immediate investigation into the reported assault on MPs Amer Abdul-Jabbar and Zuhair Al-Fatlawi. The incident, which occurred in Nisour Square, involved a security forces officer preventing the MPs from proceeding.



The unfolding situation has raised questions about the security and conduct of the officers involved, prompting swift action by the House of Representatives to address the matter. The investigation’s findings are expected to be discussed in upcoming sessions.
