IAEA Inspectors Depart Iran Amid Ongoing Tensions

Vienna: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that a team of its inspectors has left Iran and returned to its headquarters in Vienna. The team had been stationed in Tehran during the Zionist-Iranian war.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi emphasized the importance of the agency engaging with Iran to resume essential monitoring and verification activities at the earliest opportunity. Grossi communicated this message in a post on the X platform.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian recently ratified a law suspending Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA. Despite this suspension, Iran has reiterated its commitment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which it became a signatory to in the 1970s, as well as its adherence to the associated safeguards agreement. This development follows recent Zionist and American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, which have further complicated diplomatic relations.
