IDC Launches Project for 17 Horizontal Wells in East Baghdad Field

Baghdad: The Iraqi Drilling Company announced on Saturday the commencement of a project to drill 17 horizontal wells in the East Baghdad field for the Chinese company EBS, as part of plans to develop oil fields and increase production capacity.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the company's Director General, Mohammed Hantoush Asad Al-Azirjawi, stated that the drilling of the first well in the project has begun using the IDC 36 drilling rig. This initiative aligns with directives from Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair Al-Abadi and is part of efforts to bolster the oil sector's development.

Al-Azirjawi highlighted that the project builds on previous successes in the East Baghdad field, where the completion of 45 oil wells significantly contributed to the field's development and boosted production rates. The Iraqi Drilling Company is committed to executing its projects with the highest technical standards and operational efficiency, drawing on its extensive experience and technical and human resources.

He also noted that one of the company's significant achievements was the drilling of the appraisal well (EB-D), which led to the discovery of additional oil reserves, enhancing Iraq's oil wealth. Al-Azirjawi emphasized the company's ongoing dedication to executing high-quality projects in collaboration with international oil companies, in line with the Ministry of Oil's objectives to maximize oil production and strengthen the national economy.
