Baghdad: The President of the Iraqi Media Network-IMN, Karim Hammadi, affirmed on Monday the IMN’s support for young talents and minds, praising the efforts of the Creativity Development Center in supporting students and developing their abilities. Speaking at the launch of the sixth National Rapid Mental Math Championship, attended by an Iraqi News Agency (INA) correspondent, Hammadi said: “Iraq thrives through its honorable and distinguished sons, and through the new generation of scholars who will build Iraq on their shoulders and lead it in the future.”
According to Iraqi News Agency, Hammadi emphasized that these young people are not merely arithmetic geniuses, but also future leaders. He reiterated the network’s commitment to supporting students across Iraq, stating that they are dedicated to being a supportive partner for anyone with the desire, ability, and potential to lead Iraq to new achievements. Hammadi expressed his admiration for the Creativity Development Center and its staff for their dedication to nurturing these promising students.
Hammadi also extended his appreciation to the parents of the young participants, acknowledging their role in shaping future leaders and expressing optimism for the students’ open and clear paths to success and prosperity.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Creativity Development Center, Diaa Ali Al-Gharawi, commented during the championship’s launch that 210 students are currently participating after passing the center’s selection tests. The championship initially saw over 3,000 competitors, with qualifying rounds held over approximately three months. Al-Gharawi noted that participants represent all of Iraq’s provinces, and 25 competitors will be chosen to represent Iraq’s elite mental arithmetic talents at the World Rapid Mental Arithmetic Championship in Moscow later this year.
The Creativity Development Center in Iraq focuses on enhancing the creative abilities and skills of children aged four to 15 through various training programs, including mental arithmetic and other specialized courses. Al-Gharawi highlighted that the center has trained over 45,000 participants across Iraq this year, with international competition participation ongoing since 2017. This year’s 3,000 participants will continue to represent Iraq in upcoming competitions.
