Basra: The Al-Latif mobile substation was inaugurated in Basra to alleviate bottlenecks at the Abu Halwa station and improve the electricity situation in the surrounding areas. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance electrical reliability and service delivery to residents.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director General of the Southern Electricity Distribution Company, Engineer Nashat Kadhim Yassin, led the inauguration of the Al-Latif mobile substation, which operates at 133/11 kV. This strategic move is expected to directly relieve pressure on the Abu Halwa substation and enhance the efficiency of electricity distribution in the region.

Following the inauguration, the company’s media office reported that the Director General chaired an expanded meeting. The meeting included directors from the Basra and North Basra electricity distribution branches, with the presence of the Technical Assistant, Engineer Ghiath Abdul Wahab. The assembly focused on discussing the power transmission and distribution line plan and reviewing the significant technical and field challenges currently facing the network’s operation in Basra governorate.

The Director General stressed the need for increased field efforts, highlighting the importance of maintaining round-the-clock maintenance shifts. He urged for an expedited implementation of projects aimed at solving bottlenecks to ensure the stability of the electrical current and to provide optimal services to the citizens.
