Baquba: The Federal Integrity Commission has successfully apprehended an employee from the Diyala Governorate office, caught red-handed accepting a bribe from a citizen. The employee, who headed an investigative committee in the Legal Affairs Department, promised to manipulate the committee's minutes to favor the complainant in exchange for money.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Integrity Commission revealed that the arrest followed a complaint from the citizen, who alleged extortion by the employee. Acting on this information, a team from the Investigation and Control Division of the Diyala Investigation Office orchestrated a strategic ambush. This operation, conducted with judicial authorization, resulted in the employee being caught in the act of receiving the first part of a $10,000 bribe.

The commission disclosed that the bribe was intended to be delivered in two installments. During the arrest, critical documents related to the investigative committee were confiscated from the employee's vehicle, and a formal seizure report was compiled. The case has been forwarded to the investigating judge in Baquba, who specializes in integrity cases, to proceed with the necessary legal actions against the accused.
