Baghdad: The Integrity Commission announced the issuance of a seven-year prison sentence against former MP Talal al-Zubaie for the crime of illicit enrichment and money laundering.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission stated in a press release that the value of the illicit gains and the inflation of the convicted individual’s assets amounted to approximately 35 billion dinars.

It added that the sentence obligates the convicted individual to repay approximately 70 billion dinars in return for the value of the illicit gains and a fine equivalent to that amount.
