Nineveh: The Federal Integrity Commission has announced that an employee from the Ministry of Oil has been sentenced to ten years in prison for embezzling over one billion dinars from public funds.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Nineveh Criminal Court/First Panel delivered the verdict in absentia. The accused, who was employed at a government-operated fuel station in Nineveh Governorate, was found guilty of embezzling 1,174,287,000 dinars. This substantial sum represented the total sales of petroleum products at the station during the months of August and September in 2025.

The court, after examining the evidence presented in the case, deemed it sufficient to convict the individual. The ruling was made in accordance with Article (315) of the Penal Code, underscoring a firm stance against corruption and financial misconduct within governmental operations.
