Baghdad: Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari has issued a directive emphasizing the need for the law to be applied universally, without exception, and for intensified efforts to combat corruption within the Ministry of Interior.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Shammari chaired a consultative conference of the Legal Department, which was attended by the Director General of the Legal Department and directors from various branches across Baghdad and other provinces. The meeting focused on discussing work mechanisms, identifying obstacles, and exploring professional solutions.
During the conference, the minister highlighted the shift towards implementing electronic systems and networking, moving away from traditional paper-based processes. He stressed the importance of expediting the processing of cases and investigative boards, particularly those related to martyrs and deceased individuals, urging that these cases be prioritized to avoid unnecessary delays. Al-Shammari reiterated his directive for the equitable application of the law and the strengthening of anti-corruption efforts.
The conference concluded with several recommendations, notably the intensification of legal awareness campaigns for all Ministry of Interior employees to ensure they understand their duties and rights.
