Baghdad: Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari directed the adoption of modern and advanced methods in combating organized crime and the scourge of drugs: A statement from his media office indicated that the Interior Minister chaired an expanded meeting today, Thursday, to hear the monthly briefing from police commanders in Baghdad and the provinces. The meeting was attended by the ministry’s undersecretaries, a number of commanders and officers, and provincial police chiefs via closed-circuit television.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Shammari listened to a comprehensive presentation of the statistics related to all security incidents and indicators of their increase and decrease, while emphasizing the importance of continuous monitoring of checkpoints.

The Minister stressed the importance of strengthening joint coordination among police leaders and proceeding with the implementation of the regional security system in all governorates, as a prelude to assuming full responsibility for security matters, which will contribute to enhancing stability and consolidating security.

According to the statement, the Minister of Interior also directed the adoption of modern and advanced methods in combating organized crime and the scourge of drugs. He commended the significant efforts made to ensure the success of the organizational and coordination plan for the Sha’baniyah pilgrimage, which resulted in the absence of any security breaches or traffic accidents, reflecting a high level of preparedness and integrated security measures.
