Tehran: Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, accompanied by his delegation, arrived in the Iranian capital on Monday morning for an official visit aimed at discussing several important issues of mutual interest between Iraq and Iran. The visit underscored the commitment of both nations to enhance their collaborative efforts on security and other significant areas.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Shammari met with his Iranian counterpart, Iskandar Momeni, where they explored a range of topics. A primary focus of their discussions was the Arbaeen visit, a major religious event, and the security of their shared borders. Additionally, the ministers deliberated on the memorandum of understanding between the two countries, covering various subjects such as training, exchange of expertise, and the academic involvement of students sent to Iran for security studies.

The meeting also touched upon issues related to traffic management, drug control, and combatting criminal activities. During the di
scussions, the Iranian Minister of Interior expressed his gratitude to the Iraqi Ministry for its diligent efforts against drug-related crimes and its overall commitment to enhancing security. He praised Iraq’s successes in these areas and expressed a strong interest in continuing joint cooperation, highlighting the progress seen in their collaborative endeavors.
