Saravan: The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced today the death of a unit commander and a pilot in the Guards as a result of a military plane crash in the southeast of the country.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the incident occurred during the ‘Martyrs Security exercise’ in the Saravan region. A light aircraft with two passengers on board was involved in an accident.
The public relations department of the Quds base, part of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Ground Forces, released a statement confirming the incident. It stated that a light aircraft belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Ground Forces was involved in an accident while executing combat operations in the southeastern border region of Saravan.
The statement further confirmed the deaths of Brigadier General Hamid Mazandarani, who was the commander of a brigade in Golestan Province, and Hamid Jandaghi, the helicopter pilot who was part of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Ground Forces.
