Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a woman accused of murdering a retired teacher in Wasit Governorate.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry stated that within 24 hours of the incident, and under the supervision of the Wasit Police Chief, Major General Ahmed Abdul Zahra Al-Aboudi, the North Wasit Anti-Crime Department was able to uncover the circumstances of the murder of a retired teacher in Al-Suwaira district and arrest the perpetrator.
The statement added that after completing the investigation, the accused confessed to committing the crime with the motive of robbery. She stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife, and a sum of money was found in her possession. The Ministry further stated that the necessary legal measures were taken against her, a crime scene investigation was conducted, and she was detained in accordance with Article 406 of the Iraqi Penal Code.
