Interior Ministry Senior Undersecretary: No Tolerance for Those Attacking Security Personnel

Baghdad: Interior Ministry will show no leniency towards those who attack security personnel, the ministry’s senior undersecretary Hussein al-Awadi said on Saturday.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Awadi offered condolences to the families of Brigadier General Hisham Mohammed, director of the Baghdad Public Security Police Directorate in Karkh, and police officer Khalid Abbas Lafta, who were killed while performing their duties as part of a campaign to remove illegal encroachments in Baghdad’s Dora district.

‘The Interior Ministry will spare no effort in pursuing those accused in the incident and bringing them to justice,’ Al-Awadi said in a statement. He stressed that the ministry would take a firm stance against anyone who attacks security forces or their personnel.

‘The blood of the martyrs will not be shed in vain,’ he said, reaffirming that legal proceedings against those responsible would continue.

Al-Awadi also extended his sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the two officers, praying that God grant them mercy and give their loved ones patience and solace.
