Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior affirmed on Saturday that the safety of pilgrims visiting the shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) for Arbaeen is a top priority in the security plan for the pilgrimage. Major General Miqdad Miri, Head of the Department of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, stated in a press release that “the safety of pilgrims is a top priority in the Arba’een security plan.” He urged drivers not to risk driving when feeling tired or drowsy, as this poses a direct danger to the lives of pilgrims. He emphasized that the relevant authorities will not tolerate any traffic practices that endanger citizens’ lives.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Miri added that “Civil Defense teams have been deployed extensively along the pilgrimage routes, with intensified prevention, inspection, and awareness measures, as well as securing processions, accommodation areas, and large gatherings.” He affirmed that “the Ministry of Interior’s goal is for pilgrims to perform their rituals with the highest levels of security and safety and to return home safely.”
