Invitation to Participate in the “Prince of Poets” Program Competition in Abu Dhabi

Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority continues to accept applications for the twelfth season of the "Prince of Poets" program, with the registration period nearing its end this week. Applications will be accepted until August 6th via the program's official website. Poets of classical Arabic from around the world aspire to participate in the competition for the title of Prince of Poets.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, since registration opened, the competition has witnessed a significant turnout from young poets, both within and outside the Arab world, highlighting the continued strong presence of the competition and classical Arabic poetry among young Arabs and non-Arab Arabic speakers.

To participate, applicants must be between 18 and 45 years old and submit a classical Arabic poem of 8 to 20 lines, or a free verse poem of no more than two stanzas. Other registration requirements include submitting a curriculum vitae, a personal photograph, a copy of a valid passport, and completing the online registration form.

Following the application period, the judging panel will begin reviewing the submitted texts according to rigorous literary and critical criteria. This process will determine the poets who advance to the interviews and then the live episodes, which will be held at the Al Raha Beach Theatre in Abu Dhabi.

The first-place winner will receive the title "Prince of Poets," the Poetry Cloak, the Emirate's Ring, and a cash prize of one million dirhams. Cash prizes will also be awarded to those placing second through sixth.
