Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf announced an agreement with the Sultanate of Oman on a navigation mechanism in the Strait of Hormuz, based on Article 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding. Ghalibaf made this announcement during a press conference, highlighting the collaborative effort between the two nations to enhance navigation protocols in the strategic waterway.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ghalibaf emphasized the importance of consulting with countries bordering the territorial waters to ensure smooth implementation of the agreed mechanism. He stated, "We are proceeding with the implementation of the navigation mechanism in the Strait of Hormuz and will consult with the countries bordering the territorial waters."
Additionally, Ghalibaf pointed out external attempts to disrupt the agreement, mentioning that "the Israelis are trying to undermine the Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States." This statement underscores the geopolitical sensitivities surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a critical corridor for global oil transportation.
