Iran Condemns New US Sanctions: A Hostile Approach Towards Our People

Tehran: The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned on Wednesday the United States' imposition of new sanctions on individuals linked to Iran's oil sector and nuclear program.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated that "the US policy of imposing sanctions on the Iranian nation is clear evidence of the hostile approach taken by American policymakers towards the Iranian people and their disregard for the rule of law and human rights."

He further commented on the US government's reliance on economic sanctions as a tool of intimidation and political pressure. Baghaei argued that this practice violates the principles of the UN Charter and international law, undermining the foundations of the rule of law and free trade. He emphasized that these sanctions lead to significant human rights violations, especially affecting the right to development, and in some cases, they can be considered a crime against humanity.

Baghaei criticized the continued imposition of sanctions on various economic and commercial sectors in Iran, calling it an arrogant and illegal act. He claimed that this contradicts America's claim of dialogue and negotiation, highlighting a lack of good faith and seriousness from the US in engaging with Iran.

He elaborated that the unilateral sanctions imposed on Iran violate international law and hold the US government internationally responsible for the human rights violations resulting from these actions. Baghaei insisted that the United States should be held accountable for these criminal acts.

In related developments, technical talks between Tehran and Washington regarding the Iranian nuclear issue, initially scheduled for Wednesday, have been postponed to Saturday. This announcement came from the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday. The recent negotiations in Rome between Iran and the US, which concluded on Saturday, were described by Tehran and Muscat as "constructive."
