Iran: Death Toll from Rajaee Port Explosion Rises to 25, 1,139 Injured


Baghdad: Iranian authorities announced on Sunday that firefighting operations at Shahid Rajaee Port are continuing, with the main area of the incident contained. They also revealed that the death toll has risen to 25, with approximately 1,139 injured.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni said: “Aerial firefighting operations have been underway since last night, and the fire in the main area has been contained by approximately 80%. Control of areas where fires are likely to break out is also on the agenda.”



He explained, “Our first priority is relief, rescue, and preserving the lives of our citizens.” He indicated that 25 people have been killed so far, and approximately 1,139 have been injured, 212 of whom have been treated in hospitals, while the remaining injured have been sent to medical centers in neighboring provinces and cities.
