Tehran: Iran’s top nuclear official has declared that the country will not respond to demands for inspection of its bombed nuclear sites due to the absence of established guidelines for inspecting such facilities. Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), made these remarks while addressing reporters after a cabinet session in Tehran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Eslami’s comments were directed at the demands from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for inspecting Iranian nuclear sites that were damaged by airstrikes from the US and Israel in June. He highlighted that Article 68 of the IAEA Safeguards provides guidelines for inspecting facilities damaged by natural disasters, but not for those affected by military attacks.

Eslami stated that if the IAEA approves attacks on nuclear sites, it should formally declare such actions as authorized. Conversely, if these strikes are not authorized, the Agency should condemn them and define post-war conditions. He emphasized the need for clearly defined and codified procedures for dealing with nuclear facilities registered with the Agency that come under military attack.

He further asserted that until the issue is clarified, Iran will not accept political and psychological pressure or demands to re-inspect the bombed facilities, which he described as attempts to complete the enemy’s operations. Eslami reaffirmed that Iran’s nuclear activities remain peaceful and are focused on advancing the country.
