Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei has affirmed that the Iranian Armed Forces are vigilant and enhancing their readiness to defend the nation against any possible Israeli attack. Baqaei addressed these concerns during his weekly press conference, commenting on the speculation regarding a potential Israeli military offensive.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei dismissed the ongoing media propaganda as a strategy by opposing sides to apply pressure on Iran. He emphasized that psychological warfare is not new and that Iran remains committed to monitoring external activities with vigilance. Baqaei assured that the Iranian Armed Forces are prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty without any negligence.

In response to recent statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who expressed support for protests within Iran, Baqaei highlighted past aggressive actions by Israel, including the June war and the assassination of Iranian officials and nuclear scientists. He criticized these actions as efforts to undermine Iran’s national unity and emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant against such tactics.

Baqaei also addressed the recent withdrawal of US-led forces from Ain al-Asad Air Base in Iraq, clarifying that the move results from an agreement between Baghdad and Washington, unrelated to any potential aggression against Iran.

On developments in Venezuela, Baqaei condemned the US attack and abduction of Venezuelan leader Nicol¡s Maduro and his wife as violations of national sovereignty. He criticized the actions as breaches of international law and called for accountability.

The spokesperson dismissed speculation of US collusion with Russia and China in Venezuela, underscoring the illegal nature of the abduction. He affirmed that Iran is monitoring global developments and maintaining diplomatic communications to safeguard national interests.

Regarding Iran-Venezuela relations, Baqaei stated that economic ties remain unaffected by political changes. He reassured that Iran’s institutions are actively pursuing financial claims from Venezuela.

Baqaei also touched on regional cooperation against terrorism, highlighting Iran’s collaboration with Turkey in combating Daesh and the importance of collective efforts for regional peace. He criticized double standards in human rights issues, pointing to inaction by international bodies on violations in Gaza and the West Bank.
