Tehran: The Iranian Foreign Ministry affirmed on Monday that Tehran will defend the country’s sovereignty against any American aggression or intimidation, indicating the possibility of negotiations with the United States that take into account Iranian national interests. According to National Iraqi News Agency, mediators are working to prevent escalation in the region, and Iran has received proposals through mediation channels, but will not discuss their details at this time, emphasizing its continued commitment to diplomacy based on its national interests.

In response to US President Donald Trump’s threats regarding control of Kharg Island, the Iranian Foreign Ministry added that “the consequences of this will become apparent,” asserting that there is no justification for the United States violating the Memorandum of Understanding. It stressed that any agreement or understanding remains valid as long as the parties are committed to its implementation; otherwise, it will be “mere ink on paper.”
