Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani condemned, on Wednesday, what was attributed to Israel in Lebanon by targeting Lebanese citizens by blowing up communications systems.
IRNA news agency quoted Kanaani, on Wednesday morning, as saying that what happened in Lebanon is an example of genocide and is subject to international criminal prosecution, trial and punishment.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesman said: The terrorist operation that took place yesterday in Lebanon was carried out as a continuation of the complex operations of the Zionist entity and its mercenary agents, and it contradicts all moral and humanitarian principles and international law, especially international humanitarian law, and requires international criminal prosecution, trial and punishment.
Kanaani pointed out that “this complex terrorist act clearly proves once again that the Zionist entity, in addition to committing war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people, is seriously threatening regional and international p
eace and security.”
He quickly called on the international community to “confront the impunity of the criminal Zionist officials,” expressing “sympathy and solidarity with Lebanon, its government, people, resistance, and the families of the martyrs and wounded in this terrorist operation.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli media reported that their country was behind the explosion of pagers in Lebanon through text messages, as the newspaper “Haaretz” quoted American sources as saying that the wireless communication devices were imported from Taiwan and exploded while sending a text message.
According to the latest statistics from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 9 people were killed and about 2,800 others were injured as a result of the explosion of a large number of “Pager” wireless communication devices in several parts of Lebanon.
These developments come as battles continue in southern Lebanon between Hezbollah on the one hand and the Israeli army on the other, for more than 11 months. / End
