Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received a phone call from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who extended his congratulations to Iraq, its government, and its people on the successful conduct of the sixth parliamentary elections. The results of these elections are seen as a true reflection of the will of the Iraqi populace.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Pezeshkian also congratulated al-Sudani and his political coalition, Reconstruction and Development, on achieving first place in the national vote. He expressed his hopes for the continued progress of the Iraqi people in their democratic journey and the realization of comprehensive development.
During their conversation, both leaders discussed the overall bilateral relations between Iraq and Iran. They explored ways to enhance cooperation to contribute to regional stability and serve the interests of both the Iraqi and Iranian populations.
