Hamedan: A university in the western Iranian city of Hamedan witnessed demonstrations during which protesters raised slogans calling for the expulsion of Iraqi students from the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a number of people gathered in front of the gate of Bouali University in Hamedan, following allegations of illegal and unconventional behavior by a number of Iraqi students at the university.

Participants in the rally chanted slogans demanding accountability for those involved and support for university security.

The Governor of Hamedan, Darvishi, attended the rally and spoke to the protesters, stressing that the authorities would fully pursue the issue without any leniency.

He told the protesters: “We will take the matter seriously, and if these allegations are proven true, legal action will be taken against those involved. Any official who fails to perform their duties will be held accountable and may be dismissed from their position.”

Iranian media reports stated that “some for
eigners in the city of Hamedan, including students at Bouali University, were disturbing women in the city, leading to public tension.”
