Baghdad: Iran announced that its armed forces targeted the central infrastructure of an Amazon data center in Bahrain as part of the 24th wave of Operation Nasr 2.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iranian news agency IRNA quoted the Revolutionary Guard's media center as saying that the Amazon cloud facility in Bahrain, known as ME-South-1, is the first integrated data processing center for Amazon in the Middle East and began operations in 2019.
The statement from the Revolutionary Guard highlighted that Amazon's facilities in Bahrain serve as a crucial information processing hub for the United States and its allies in the Gulf region. Additionally, it was noted that Amazon is one of four major contractors with the US Department of Defense under the Joint Combat Cloud Computing Capabilities (JWCC) contract, which is valued at approximately $9 billion.
