Hormozgan: The head of the judiciary in Hormozgan Province, southeastern Iran, Mojtaba Ghahramani, announced on Tuesday that a ship carrying large quantities of smuggled fuel was seized in the Arabian Gulf by the IRGC’s naval forces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Gahramani explained that the operation took place after the suspicious ship was spotted between the islands of Larak and Qeshm, and was intercepted in coordination with the Qeshm Public Prosecution Office. He noted that the operation “resulted in the seizure of 100,000 liters of smuggled fuel on board, and the arrest of six people in connection with the case.”

The judicial official indicated that the defendants face charges related to organized fuel smuggling, stressing that they will be subject to severe penalties, including fines, imprisonment, and confiscation of illegal proceeds.

Qahramani confirmed that if the crime is proven, the vessel used in smuggling will be confiscated in accordance with Article 20 of the Anti-Smuggling of Goods Law, with a fine equal to the value of the means used.
