Iraq and Australia Strengthen Cooperation Amid Regional Developments


Baghdad: The Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi met with Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Glenn Miles, affirming on Monday that al-Zaidi’s government is playing a crucial role in calming tensions and reducing escalation in the region.



According to Iraqi News Agency, al-Aboudi and Miles discussed the latest regional and international developments, as well as ways to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Iraq and Australia, particularly continued cooperation in combating terrorism and exchanging information, according to a statement by the National Security Advisor’s media office.



“Iraq maintains balanced relations with all countries, in a manner that serves the country’s best interests and enhances Iraq’s international standing,” emphasizing that “Iraq is a safe and stable country, and the government of Ali al-Zaidi is playing a vital role in calming tensions and reducing escalation in the region through dialogue and diplomatic channels,” al-Aboudi pointed out.



He reiterated ‘the Iraqi government’s commitment to supporting foreign investors and companies by providing the necessary facilities to ensure their success in Iraq.’



In turn, the Australian ambassador expressed his country’s support for the Iraqi government’s policies and reform program, noting his government’s support for Australian companies entering the Iraqi market.
