BAGHDAD: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani recently announced an extensive sewage system overhaul for Diyala Governorate, committing a total of 253.35 billion dinars to improve sanitation across several districts and sub-districts.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the new initiative will encompass various projects aimed at enhancing the sewage infrastructure in multiple regions within the governorate. The Prime Minister’s Office outlined the projects, which include significant investments in key districts. The Al-Muqdadiyah District will receive a 56.6 billion dinar sewerage system, while the Balad Ruz District Center is allocated 45.4 billion dinars for similar upgrades. Other districts such as Jalawla and Khanaqin will see projects costing 44.1 billion dinars and 40 billion dinars, respectively.

Additional areas benefiting from the funding include Buhriz, with a sewerage project budgeted at 28.5 billion dinars, Bani Saad at 21.25 billion dinars, and Canaan, which will undergo upgrades costing
17.5 billion dinars. This comprehensive plan aims not only to improve sanitation but also to enhance the overall quality of life for residents across these communities.
