Baghdad: The Sadrist Movement leader, Muqtada al-Sadr, has renewed his boycott of the elections, emphasizing that abstaining is a religious and moral duty against corruption and injustice.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sadr stated that Fatimah al-Zahraa and Imam Ali are exemplary figures who opposed corruption and injustice. He cited their actions as inspiration for his own stance, stating that they serve as models for reformers.

Al-Sadr criticized current calls to combat corruption by supporting potentially corrupt candidates, asserting that this approach only perpetuates corruption. He stressed that voting for those who have been tested and found lacking is equivalent to reinforcing corruption, highlighting that "God does not love corruption."

He concluded by urging all Iraqis, including the security forces, to take responsibility for safeguarding the nation by selecting righteous candidates over corrupt ones.
