Tashkent: Iraq’s Trade Minister Mustafa Nizar Al-Ani extended an invitation to participants of the Tashkent International Forum on Wednesday, urging them to attend specialized exhibitions in Iraq. Al-Ani’s call to action was made during his participation in a roundtable discussion at the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum. The discussion, titled “From Uzbekistan to the Gulf States and Beyond: Promising Investment Opportunities,” gathered heads of official delegations, investors, and businesspeople.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Minister emphasized Iraq’s promising investment opportunities across various economic sectors. He highlighted the Iraqi government’s strategic vision to diversify the national economy, enhance the role of the private sector, and attract foreign investment in alignment with sustainable development goals. Al-Ani stated, “Iraq is witnessing a transformation towards building a new economic identity based on partnership with the private sector and openness to regional and international markets.” He encouraged investors and companies to seize the investment opportunities available in the Iraqi market.
The Minister also underlined the significance of boosting trade exchange between Iraq and Uzbekistan and developing economic cooperation to serve the mutual interests of both nations. He affirmed Iraq’s commitment to expanding economic partnerships with regional countries. Al-Ani extended a formal invitation to all countries and companies participating in the forum to take part in specialized exhibitions in Iraq, particularly highlighting the upcoming Baghdad International Fair as a critical platform for fostering connections within the business community and exploring cooperation and investment opportunities.
The forum saw participation from over 400 businesswomen and businessmen, as well as investors from the Gulf and several Islamic countries. Key attendees included the Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations, the Director General of the Department of Private Sector Development, and representatives from the Iraqi Economic Council.
