Baku:The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced that Iraq is expected to lead Arab nations in economic performance by the year 2027.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the IMF forecasts indicate a significant shift in the performance of Arab economies between 2026 and 2027.
In 2026, Arab oil-exporting nations experienced a substantial contraction due to shipping disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz and a decline in oil supplies, which put pressure on numerous Gulf and Arab economies. However, the IMF projects a recovery for most Arab economies in 2027, spurred by the normalization of oil exports and improved security conditions. Iraq is anticipated to top the list with a projected growth rate of 19%, the highest among Arab nations.
