Cairo: The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, has reiterated Iraq’s firm opposition to any efforts to relocate Palestinians outside their homeland. In his address at the emergency summit in Cairo, he emphasized Iraq’s stance on supporting the establishment of a recognized Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Rashid expressed strong condemnation of the decision by the Israeli authorities to prohibit the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating in the occupied territories. He highlighted concerns over calls to displace two million Palestinians from Gaza to other countries, warning of the potential disastrous impacts on regional stability and security.

The President urged the international and Islamic communities to unite against any projects aiming to displace Palestinians without rightful cause. He also called for immediate measures to initiate the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and proposed the establishment of a dedicated fund to assess and address the region’s needs.

Reaffirming Iraq’s position, President Rashid stated that any attempts to find alternative places for Palestinians, thereby confiscating their lands, are categorically rejected by Iraq.
