Baghdad:Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad on Tuesday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom and emphasized Iraq’s desire to further develop cooperation and coordination, especially in light of the new British government.
During the discussions, Fuad Hussein shared insights from his recent visits to New York and Washington, where he discussed the ongoing situation between the United States and Iran. He highlighted the importance of ongoing efforts to reduce regional tensions to maintain stability.
The conversation also covered developments in the Strait of Hormuz and their implications for navigation, energy security, and global markets. The Minister discussed the regional events’ impact on oil prices and stressed the need to ensure stable energy supplies.
Additionally, Fuad Hussein outlined the Iraqi government’s initiatives to strengthen state authority and manage weapons control, aiming to address these issues responsibly to maintain security and stability. Ambassador Siddiq affirmed the United Kingdom’s dedication to continued consultation and coordination with Iraq, supporting efforts to enhance security and stability and reduce regional tensions.
