Beirut: The Iraqi athletics team continued to shine on the second day of the West Asia U20 Youth and Junior Championship, held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, securing a total of eight medals, including one gold, three silver, and four bronze. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the team opened the day by winning gold in the javelin throw through Abdullah Sami, with a distance of 76.57 meters. Three silver medals were also added to Iraq's tally: in the long jump by Aya Salim with 4.91 meters, in the women's heptathlon by Ranin Ahmed Abdulwahab with 2,391 points, and in the 5,000 meters race for men by Yahya Ibrahim. The bronze medals went to Zain Al-Abidin Mukhlis in the men's 5,000 meters, Nivar Hassan Ali in the women's high jump with a height of 1.99 meters, Saja Bilal in the women's long jump with 4.76 meters, and Rania Qasim in the women's 5,000 meters race with a time of 33.51 minutes. With these results, Iraq's medal count in the championship has reached 12, including three gold, five silver, and four bronze medals.
