Iraq Signs Strategic Internet Bandwidth Agreement with Qatar’s Ooredoo


Baghdad: The Ministry of Communications announced the signing of a pivotal contract with Qatari telecommunications company Ooredoo, aiming to channel internet capacity from the Gulf to Europe through Iraq. This agreement is expected to bolster the country’s internet infrastructure significantly.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the contract was signed under the supervision of Minister of Communications Mustafa Sand. The General Company for Communications and Informatics represented Iraq in this strategic partnership with Ooredoo. The agreement is designed to transmit internet bandwidth via a corridor that runs through Iraqi territory, offering a short and secure route that connects East and West on the global communications map. This development is set to enhance Iraq’s role in international data and bandwidth traffic, emphasizing its economic importance in the region.
