Baghdad: The Acting Minister of Culture, Sarwa Abdul Wahid, has confirmed Iraq’s willingness to extend necessary facilities to ensure a successful Palestinian participation in the 27th Baghdad International Book Fair. The event is scheduled to take place from September 2nd to 12th, 2026. This commitment was articulated during a meeting with the Palestinian Ambassador to Iraq, Samar Awadallah, on Sunday, August 16th, 2026.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions between the minister and the ambassador focused on boosting cultural cooperation between Iraq and Palestine. Emphasis was placed on the importance of Palestinian involvement in the fair, which is seen as a vital opportunity to foster cultural exchange and build new bridges between intellectuals and publishers from both nations.
In her dedication to ensuring the success of the Palestinian participation, Minister Abdul Wahid tasked Hind Kamel, the ministry’s advisor for cultural and artistic affairs, with overseeing the necessary requirements and coordinating the logistics for Palestinian representation at the fair.
The Palestinian ambassador expressed appreciation for the support extended by the Iraqi Ministry of Culture. She highlighted that Palestine’s presence at the Baghdad International Book Fair is a significant platform to display Palestinian cultural achievements and further enhance the cooperative and cultural ties between Iraq and Palestine.
