Baghdad: The Transport Ministry has denied reports that a contract for the construction of a naval base at Fao Port has been signed, stating that the draft contract is still under review.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry clarified that the project was awarded to Daewoo Korea based on a 2019 cabinet decision, with Tecnimont Italy overseeing supervision and design. The contract is undergoing joint review by relevant ministries before final approval.
The ministry emphasized that any claims about the contract being executed or altered are misinformation, as no official decision has been made.
