Baghdad: The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday welcomed the initiative announced by U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at ending the ongoing war in Gaza.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry praised the proposals included in the initiative, which call for halting military operations, reconstructing the Gaza Strip, preventing the displacement of the Palestinian people, and rejecting any attempt to annex the West Bank.

The ministry expressed hope that this initiative will help alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, ensure the unrestricted delivery of adequate humanitarian aid, and prevent any attempts to uproot them from their land.
