Tehran: Iraqi Minister of Communications Mustafa Sanad met with his Iranian counterpart, Satar Hashemi, on Monday to discuss several shared issues in the communications and technology sector, most notably cybersecurity, the digital economy, and service applications, as well as addressing frequency interference in the Iraqi governorates bordering Iran, and strengthening partnerships in the field of science parks.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Minister Sanad arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and was received by Satar Hashemi, who emphasized the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries. Hashemi expressed his gratitude to the Iraqi government and the Iraqi people for the hospitality and generous reception during the Arbaeen visit and the funeral ceremonies of the leader of the Islamic Revolution.

The discussions included a call by Minister Sanad for enhanced scientific cooperation and collaboration between Iraq and Iran. He highlighted that such cooperation would contribute to developing a generation of skilled professionals who can lead the communications and digital economy sectors in the future. Sanad emphasized the significance of exchanging expertise and knowledge in technical and scientific fields.

In a related development, the ‘Elecamp’ exhibition was inaugurated, with participation from the Iraqi and Iranian Ministers of Communications, along with several officials and stakeholders in the communications and technology sector.
