Baghdad: The head of the Iraqi Bar Association and the president of the Federal Court discuss strengthening the presence of lawyers in the constitutional judiciary. The head of the Iraqi Bar Association, lawyer Ahlam al-Lami, met with the President of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Munther Ibrahim Hussein, to discuss strengthening cooperation in developing lawyers’ skills in constitutional litigation and the possibility of their attending public court sessions to learn about its procedures and principles and gain specialized legal experience.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this came during al-Lami’s visit to the court headquarters, accompanied by lawyer Shawkat al-Samarrai. The meeting addressed the pivotal position of the Federal Supreme Court as the competent constitutional judiciary in Iraq, its legal and judicial role, and its impact on protecting the system, the stability of the state, and the functioning of its institutions.

Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening the professional and academic relationship between lawyers and the court, which would raise the efficiency of litigation and enhance the role of lawyers in constitutional cases.
