Baghdad: A delegation from the Iraqi community in Michigan visited Nineveh Governorate to discuss enhancing social and investment cooperation between the Iraqi community in Michigan and the local government in Nineveh. The discussions centered on strengthening commercial and social ties between the two regions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the visit focused on coordination between American companies interested in investing in Nineveh and local government institutions. Martin Manna, head of the Chaldean Community Foundation and the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce, stated that the visit was timely for activating the Iraqi American Chamber of Commerce and enhancing economic cooperation between the two parties.

Manna noted that the visit was aimed at discussing opportunities for cooperation with American companies keen on investing in Nineveh. He highlighted that the Chaldean community plays a significant role in stimulating economic relations between Iraq and America.

He further mentioned that the local government in Nineveh has made progress in reconstruction efforts, restoring several churches such as the Clock Church (al-Saa’a) and the Immaculate Church (al-Tahyrah), and opening the nuns’ house. Manna announced plans to build a cultural center for Christians in Mosul next month and initiate the reconstruction of Maskanta Church.

Manna emphasized that the local government is committed to rebuilding churches across districts to encourage the return of Christians to the region. The visit aims to create new opportunities for trade and investment cooperation between the Iraqi community in Michigan and the Nineveh government.
