Mexico City:The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Mexico City organized a ceremony to commemorate Iraqi National Sovereignty Day, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s journey to consolidate sovereignty and independent national decision-making.
According to the Iraqi News Agency, the ceremony included a minute of silence and the recitation of Al-Fatiha in tribute to the martyrs of Iraq. These acts were conducted in the presence of the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy, Counselor Haider Falhi Al-Batat, and several embassy staff members.
The Chargé d’Affaires stated that National Sovereignty Day is an occasion to honor the sacrifices of the Iraqi people and to celebrate achievements in state-building and strengthening institutions. He emphasized that national sovereignty signifies the independence of Iraqi decision-making, adherence to the Constitution and the rule of law, and enhances Iraq’s standing and role regionally and internationally.
He further noted that commemorating this occasion reflects loyalty to the sacrifices made by the martyrs and security forces and reaffirms ongoing efforts to build a state of institutions. It also highlights Iraq’s aim to strengthen relations with friendly countries based on mutual respect and common interests.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for mercy for Iraq’s martyrs, protection for the country and its people, and success in continuing development efforts.
