Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid have underscored the necessity of adhering to professionalism and transparency in the forthcoming population census.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office released a statement detailing a meeting between Al-Sudani and President Rashid. The meeting was also attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, the Minister of Justice, and other key figures from both the federal and Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq. The gathering focused on addressing pressing issues, notably the relationship between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, and emphasized resolving outstanding issues according to constitutional and legal frameworks.

The statement highlighted the significance of the population census, which is expected to play a vital ro
le in fostering economic and social development. Discussions at the meeting also centered on the preparations for the census, with an emphasis on overcoming potential hurdles and ensuring the process is executed smoothly. The leaders stressed the importance of conducting the census on schedule and supporting the Ministry of Planning to ensure its success. They also emphasized the need for the census to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and transparency, alongside efforts to raise public awareness and encourage accurate data submission. This will be instrumental in creating a comprehensive database covering various economic and social indicators such as housing, education, health, and employment.
