Baghdad:Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi affirmed that Iraq’s regained sovereignty is reflected in significant national developments.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Zaidi outlined several key aspects of this sovereignty. These include the withdrawal of foreign forces and the complete termination of the International Coalition’s mission in Iraq. Additionally, agreements have been reached for the withdrawal of Turkish forces and Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) elements, and the cessation of foreign armed group presence in the country.
Al-Zaidi also emphasized the unification of the Peshmerga forces to enhance unified security and military decision-making. Measures have been implemented to end the presence of any armed foreign opposition in Iraq, and to prevent the country from being used as a base for attacks on neighboring nations.
Furthermore, Al-Zaidi noted the regulation of weaponry according to the Constitution and law, with timelines established for addressing the status of factions and integrating them into state institutions. An integrated national air defense system is also being developed to strengthen Iraq’s airspace security.
In his speech at the “Sovereignty Day” conference, Al-Zaidi highlighted the importance of an economy that can adapt to global changes and engage internationally. He stressed the need for economic diversification, expanding partnerships, and investing in youth potential to protect and maximize national wealth, particularly oil, for the benefit of all Iraqis.
