Cairo: The Iraqi embassy in Cairo has successfully negotiated an agreement to resume the entry of empty Iraqi trucks into Egypt, reversing a previous ban that had been in place. Diplomatic efforts spearheaded by the Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Qahtan Taha Khalaf, played a pivotal role in reaching this agreement.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the embassy’s statement highlighted that the ambassador engaged in a series of discussions with officials and specialists from the Egyptian Ministry of Transport. These diplomatic efforts were vital in securing the agreement, which aims to enhance land transport and bolster trade and economic cooperation between Iraq and Egypt.
The statement further mentioned that this issue will be included in the agenda of specialized technical committees from both countries. These committees are set to meet next September to discuss the matter in detail, with the goal of regulating procedures and achieving sustainable solutions that meet the mutual interests of Iraq and Egypt.
