Iraq’s Oil Exports Unaffected by Al-Zubair Depot Fire, Says Oil Minister


Basra: Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul Ghani confirmed that the fire at Al-Zubair 1 storage facility in Basra Oil Company did not affect Iraq’s oil export operations, as alternative storage and export options are available.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abdul Ghani chaired on Wednesday the tenth meeting of the 2025 Advisory Board, attended by deputies, advisers, and general directors of oil companies and departments. He stressed the importance of adhering to occupational safety standards to protect personnel and oil installations.



The minister also highlighted the inauguration of the FCC unit at the South Refineries Company, describing it as a strategic project that converts heavy oil residues into white petroleum products. He praised the company’s staff for their efforts in completing the project.



Abdul Ghani further discussed progress in developing the four Kirkuk oil fields, noting that initial implementation and production phases have begun, which will contribute to boosting the state’s financial revenues.



The session also included discussions of several agenda items, resulting in recommendations and decisions aimed at enhancing and developing the oil sector.
