Iraq’s Strength Lies in Unity Among Its Components

Accra:Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National State Forces Alliance, emphasized that Iraq’s strength is rooted in every component of the nation feeling like an integral partner.

According to Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim made these remarks during a memorial ceremony commemorating the ninth anniversary of former President Jalal Talabani’s passing. Al-Hakim praised the late President Talabani as a national figure with an exceptional ability to engage with diverse perspectives.

He further stated that Iraq cannot be governed through the imposition of wills, nor can stability be ensured by one party dominating another. Al-Hakim highlighted Iraq’s position in a region experiencing significant transformations and cautioned against reducing Iraq’s policy to reactions in response to others’ conflicts. He asserted that independent decision-making and balanced relations are essential, requiring a capable state.

Al-Hakim also stressed that safeguarding the political process involves development and reform rather than merely defending it with words. He noted that decisions regarding war and peace should be made by the state’s constitutional institutions.
