Tehran: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Friday that the strategic Strait of Hormuz has been closed to all ships.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the IRGC Navy issued a statement rejecting U.S. claims that the strait remains open, labeling such assertions as “a lie aimed at controlling oil prices.” The IRGC emphasized that the closure applies to all vessels attempting to pass without coordination with Iranian authorities.
The statement further clarified that this policy will persist until the United States ceases its hostile actions and fulfills its commitments. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime chokepoint through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply is transported.
