ISIS-Affiliated Terrorist Sentenced to Life for Drone Possession in Baghdad

Baghdad: A terrorist was sentenced to life imprisonment after being found in possession of a drone intended to support ISIS. The Karkh Criminal Court handed down the life sentence to an ISIS-affiliated terrorist who was discovered with a drone that he planned to use in terrorist activities aimed at destabilizing security in Baghdad in 2024.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council revealed in a press release that the terrorist had turned his home into a workshop for manufacturing and equipping drones. The drone in his possession was intended to execute terrorist attacks on civilians and to transport financial donations to support the ISIS organization.

The court's decision to issue a life sentence was based on Article 4/1 and Article 2/3 of the Counter-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005. Additionally, the sentence was in accordance with Article 132/1 of the Penal Code No. 111 of 1969.
